Center for Data and Geographical Information Services

(CD&GIS)

(A Census Information Center)

The Center for Data and Geographical Information Services (CD&GIS) is designed to satisfy the census data needs of organizations concerned with identifying, defining, targeting, and serving the Asian & Pacific Islander (API)  and other minority populations. CD&GIS is the major processor of data on ethnic groups making up the API  population and is a designated Census Information Center (CIC) for the U.S. Census Bureau. Qualified staff can provide technical assistance and prepare customized tables, reports and maps (Contact CD&GIS).
Although we specialize in API ethnic data, CD&GIS is expert with all groups including White, Black, Hispanic, Native American and others. CD&GIS has specialized in working with human and social service providers including community-based organizations, schools, universities and public departments. All organizations are welcome.

The CD&GIS Resource Center has a large body of Census related materials. As a designated Census Information Center, CD&GIS has been receiving and will continue to receive Census 2000 data as they become available and can provide education and training to groups and individuals. The Center also has population, housing, and social and economic characteristics for both the 1980 and 1990 Census and can provide reports concerning these data sets (Click here to see the CD&GIS brochure or right click and scroll to Save Target As and save it to your computer).
Current Population Reports provide data on population estimates educational attainment, foreign-born, income and poverty levels as well as selected racial/ethnic data. The intercensal Economic Census includes information on retail and wholesale trades as well as data on other industrial sectors. This data set enables CD&GIS to create special reports on minority and women-owned businesses on a as needed basis. CD&GIS is also able to complement its data dissemination role with its Geographical Information (System) Services. For a nominal fee, CD&GIS can create customized maps and perform spatial analysis on in-house data or data provided by those in need of these services (CD&GIS Map Collection).
The maps and tables below are examples of some of the services CD&GIS offers. Note that the time to load the maps in your browser is dependent upon your internet connection. With a 56K modem, loading time can take up to three minutes.
